RAISE
A PINK GLASS FOR CHARITY
Riedel Pink "O" Champagne Glass
october
is National
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to raise money for
the charity Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Riedel Crystal
is selling a limited edition Pink Champagne “O”
stemless glass. Unlike Riedel's standard “O”
glass, the Pink Champagne glass sits
on a ribbed hollow pedestal and its bowl is an elongated
tulip shape. The thin stemless glass has a pink-tinted bottom
that, when light reflects off it, makes the entire glass
appear pink. When used for Rosé
wines, the effect is intensified.
Last
year, Riedel sold more than 55,000 units of the limited
edition Pink “O” wine tumbler and donated more
than $50,000 to Living
Beyond Breast Cancer, a group dedicated to empowering
women affected by breast cancer to live as long as possible
with the best quality of life. The new glasses come in a
black box emblazoned with a pink ribbon and retail for $27
per pair with 15 percent of the proceeds going to LBBC.
“This was the first time we had created a special
glass to benefit a charity,” said glass maker Georg
Riedel. “We were both pleased and surprised at the
enthusiastic response. This year, we decided on a Champagne
glass—the drink of celebration—to toast the
courage of the women who face this terrible disease every
day and conquer it.”
