Tasting
Notes: This limited release (600 cases) from
the Dry Creek Valley offers a perfumed nose reminiscent of honeysuckle.
Creamy in the mouth from a hint of malolactic fermentation, it finishes
with strong licorice flavors. Served chilled, it is just the right antidote
for the summer heat. (Date tasted 08/26/00)
Profile:
Although John Hawley played an instrumental role in turning two California
wineries into mega-brands (Kendell Jackson and Clos du Bois), he's scaled
down in a big way. Today, Hawley focuses on four wines, Viognier, Merlot,
Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, from his own ten-acre vineyard in
the Dry Creek Valley.
