Tasting
Notes: For the first time in their forty-year
history, the winemaking team from Rodney Strong is trying its hands
at a classic, Bordeaux-style blend. Crafted from a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this well-balanced wine exhibits the chalky
nose and earthy flavors of a traditional Bordeaux. The lengthy finish
packs chocolate intensity with soft tannins, making it great drinking
now as well as a wine worthy of bottle aging. (Date tasted: 03/03/00)

Profile:
Founded in 1959, Rodney Strong Vineyards is deeply embedded in Sonoma
County's winemaking history. Vineyard holdings include some of the county's
finest appellations, including Chalk Hill and the Alexander and Russian
River Valleys. While winemaker Rick Sayre's skills are focused on crafting
a line of quality estate and reserve bottlings, the winery also produces
widely distributed wines from primarily sourced fruit under the Rodney Strong Sonoma County label.
