Tasting
Notes: Highly extracted, this wine's rich
purple hue promises impact. And from the initial explosion in the mouth,
there's no doubt it delivers. A perfect harmony of fruit and winemaking
bring together a complex range of flavors and aromas, including blackberry
jam, burnt caramel and an underlying mineral layer. Fresh, bold and
distinctly American, this is one of those juicy, Californian wines with
a finish you hope will never end. (Date tasted 01/28/01).
Profile:
Carmody McKnight is the love child of actor/artist Gary Conway and
his family. Leading a slightly lower profile than his "Lost in Space"
days, Conway now enjoys the kind of celebrity earned by producers
of premium wines. The Carmody in the winery's name comes from Gary's
birth name - changed years ago by Hollywood agents. The McKnight
on the label is his wife, a former Miss America with a passion for
the vine. In addition to receiving recognition for their quality
product, the winery is also noted for its beautiful labels, each
one designed and painted by Gary, an artist of many talents.
