Tasting
Notes: Despite the year
2000
being tricky for Pennsylvania
wines ,
Chaddsford managed to produce a beverage that is
not over oaked but delivers what that terroir has
to offer. A rustic nose of ripe fruit is followed
by a smooth mouthful of flavors along the line of
chocolate milk and yellow to red fruits. You'll
get your full Bordeaux experience. Pair it with
pork chops. (Date tasted

Tasting
Notes: This wine's pale straw hue
hints at its 100 percent stainless steel fermentation. Although
the nose is refreshingly herbal, its intensity of fruit demonstrates
Chaddsford's affinity for the Italian tradition of Pinot Grigio.
Weighty on the palate, it finishes clean with a good balance
of acid. Although its dry, licorice finish falls a bit short,
this is one of the finest East Coast wines we've recently
tasted. Try it with Thai. Its clean, fresh style is the perfect
antidote for the spice of Asian cuisine. (Date tasted 07/09/01)
Profile:
Located in the quiet countryside between Philadelphia
and Wilmington Delaware, Chaddsford has been producing
premium wine since 1982. Although predominantly distributed
throughout the Mid Atlantic, a reputation for consistent
production of world-class wines has turned several top
restaurants in the West, like Mark Miller's Coyote Cafe
and Bradley Ogden's Larkspur Inn, on to this leading
winery from the East. |
