Tasting
Notes: An opaque ruby color greets you, followed by
some oak and a slight dill odor. Definitely a fruit-forward
wine with a firm structure and medium tannins and body, which deliver
a pleasant mouthfeel leading to a nice finish with licorice
overtones. (Date tasted: 03/17/03)

Profile: Flora
Springs Winery & Vineyards dates back 30 years when
Jerry and Flora Komes bought their first vineyard in the
Napa Valley. They christened it Flora Springs after Flora
and the water source on the property. Their retirement
project became a lifetime passion for son John Komes and
daughter Julie Garvey and their families. Over the years,
Flora Springs acquired an additional eight unique vineyards
and planted 650 acres of vineyards throughout five Napa Valley appellations. Approximately 70 percent of their fruit is sold to other wineries
while a selection is used for Flora Springs, producing
a wide array of wines. The grapes for Trilogy, their signature
wine, came from their estate vineyard, the Komes Ranch,
which surrounds Flora Springs. Visitors can try Flora Springs' products at their new tasting facility, The Room, in St. Helena. The contemporary wine bar features tasting caves and a variety of wine flight offerings.
