Tasting
Notes: This wine is a mouthful,
especially because it's so young. Quite dark and opaque, loaded
with tannins and blackberry flavorforward with a medium-
to full-body experience. Pleasant in the mouth with a nice
balance despite the high alcohol content. Dark fruit, licorice
and burnt-wood tones linger for a good while
which is
what we would recommend for its aging process. (Date tasted:
08/24/02)
Profile:
All things considered, Honig
is a young winery in time, at heart and in spirit. The
jovial crew here is very humble and remains busy as
bees with all the tasks from vineyard management, sales,
dressing up in silly costumes (part of their marketing
campaigns) to making very good Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet
wines. In fact that's all they make. They pride themselves
on their organic farming practices. Recently they caught
the single-vineyard bug and have two offerings of 250
cases for the Bartolucci and 300 for the Stagecoach.
