Tasting
Notes: This is not your typical Sauvignon
Blanc. It is rich in character and complex in flavors.
A yellow gold color (it could be at this price) with a tropical
nose as well as grassy, dry herbs and lemon peel greets you.
It has a good medium body that reveals a certain buttery character
and oak effect in the mouth. The good thing is that the wine
does not leave you for a while; you will remember a long creamy
and progressive finish. (Date tasted 05/23/03)
Special
Notes: This wine is very
special in many ways. You'd almost want to get a bottle
simply for its label, but there is much more behind the dressing.
The Sauvignon Blanc vines of the I Block of the To-Kalon Vineyard
in Oakville are believed to be the oldest in North America
at 56 years old. About 450 cases are produced every year.
The wine is barrel-aged sur lie.
