Tasting
Notes: Here
you go: 460 cases of a new offering from the Central Coast.
This is an estate program from the Saucelito Canyon, which
aspires to deliver the best Southern Rhône offering
in California. The Thereza Cuvée, albeit still very
young, will be a pleasant wine. Give it a couple of years
in the bottle, and you’ll have something quite nice.
The aromas showcase an earthy terroir, with berries and
spice. A well-balanced medium body leads you to a long finish.
Match it up with a peppered steak followed with Camembert.

Profile:
Rancho Arroyo Grande Winery and Vineyards is located
in the heart of the Arroyo Grande Valley (AVA), right
where the St. Remy Winery was located in the 19th
century. The soil, rich with deposits of fossilized
oysters, gravel, sand and limestone, is instrumental
in producing rich and intensely flavored fruit. Winemaker
Clarissa Nagy crafts a variety of estate-grown wines,
including Syrah, Zinfandel and Chardonnay; noteworthy
is the Dry Farm Zinfandel. The winery also sells fruit
to a number of area wineries, among them
Saucelito Canyon. The quality soil and meticulous
tending to the vineyards yield fine handcrafted wines.
“We want to produce the best southern Rhône-style
wine in California,” says owner Gary Verboon. |
