Tasting
Notes: Grapes like Carneros and so do we.
Here is a well-balanced, good fruit concentrate example. The rich flavors
of this sulky beverage will impress you and will smooth out some rough
edges after some time in the bottle. The nose is subtle and only slightly
herbal and a bit fruity. Good mouthfeel and a decent finish bring satisfaction
to your glass. We acclaim Robledo's first widely available release and
look forward to future wines. This wine is a good testimony that Merlot
is not just for blending. (Date tasted 12/27/01)
Profile:
A few decades ago, Reynaldo Robledo and his siblings immigrated
to California in search of a better life. A better-and successful-life
he found. After a long period of commitment to the growing of
grapes for premium wines and positions at prestigious wineries,
it is now his turn to bring to market ultra premium wine. With
this second release of 550 cases of Merlot, and the inaugural
release of 349 cases of Chardonnay, we want to take our hats
off to the Robledos. Next is Pinot Noir, we hear—the perfect
grape for Carneros.
